During last year’s Holy Thursday and Good Friday, I had to go to a church nearby my work. The church is St. Ann’s Church in nearby Bartlett. The pastor is our Diocesean Director of Worship (or something like that).
At the end of the Masses, since there was no dismissal nor any closing song, people decided that they didn’t like the silence and started talking (amazing how that happens in darn near every church). Well, Fr. Bruce used a “clacker”, which makes an obnoxious clicking noise. When I asked him about it later, it was to tell the people that they are dismissed. However, it also does a fine job of cutting the chatter. This might be a worthwhile investment in some churches.
