Does anyone know of the Protestant group “Big Tent Revival?” They actually sing pretty good music. For some reason, today I’m reminded of their song “If Loving God Was a Crime” (sorry, Nihil, that’s how the title goes).

The lyrics start like this:

If loving God was a crime, I’d be an outlaw.

Sound Doctrine

  /   Tuesday, May 06, 2003   /   Comments(0)

A friend of mine in a meeting shared a quote with us that I believe is from St. Josemaria Escriva. It says that one of the first signs of love of God is that one seeks sound doctrinal instruction. I wholeheartedly agree. Obviously, if you love God, you want to know him.

However, I wonder what of those who claim that it’s “love” or a “relationship” that matters and not doctrine. I do believe they are trying to construct God out of their own personal preferences. Some may be doing this intentionally, but I don’t think it is true for the majority of them.

Is There a Sign on Me That Says “Welcome”

  /   Sunday, May 04, 2003   /   Comments(0)

There is a certain little problem in my life where I feel that I am being used as a doormat. I’m well aware of the command of Jesus to “turn the other cheek.” However, Jesus would not be one to be mistaken as a doormat. This is the same Jesus who grabbed a whip of cords and removed the money changers from the temple.

My question is: What is the difference between being Christian and being a doormat? It is so difficult to determine. Sometimes I can be so interested in not being a doormat that I run the risk of also ceasing to be a Christian. I don’t want to be in that situation.

Wireless Play

  /   Saturday, May 03, 2003   /   Comments(0)

I am still tinkering with wireless devices. Now, I’ve established a Bluetooth connection with my Palm Tungsten T and am playing with it. It doesn’t seem to even reach into my living room, but that could be my router that is interfering. We shall see. This may be going back to CompUSA tonight or this week.

Success

I have finally succeeded in getting my wireless network to work. I just got the network card today for my Pocket PC, and I am typing this from my device. We will see if it posts. It’s kind of hard to do serious Internet surfing on this small screen, but it will be okay for getting my e-mail and blogging when I travel. It should be easier to get through airport security when I attempt to travel. Now, if only my ISP would let me configure their dial up with this device.

Another New Toy

I’ve taken to establishing my own wireless network in my apartment for use with my PDAs. I don’t know if it works yet or not, but the device that I will use it with should be here any time now.
