After many months of procrastination, I finally got a new article written for my web page. I have one more to write. Let’s see how long it takes me to do it.

St. Catherine Laboure

  /   Friday, November 28, 2003   /   Comments(0)

Some time ago, we had a meeting of our Frassati Society where several of us took turns talking about different sacramentals. I chose the Miraculous Medal. I wear one along with a Divine Mercy medal. Of course, a large part of this talk was devoted to St. Catherine Laboure.

The part that most amazes me about her is that she never told anyone except her spiritual director and confessor about the visions until the end of her life. I know that I would have likely said “Hey everyone! Let me tell you about what I saw!” Still more amazing is the fact that the medals were made and sent out without anyone knowing she had received the revelation.

Today, you can visit the Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in a small town named Perryville, Missouri. It’s a little more than an hour south of St. Louis on I-55. It’s a small, but beautiful shrine. It’s a perfect stop on the way to The Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, and it is far more beautiful.

The Saga Continues

  /   Friday, November 28, 2003   /   Comments(0)

It appears that Michael Schiavo is going full speed ahead in his quest to starve his wife to death. We must continue to pray for this one. Satan is once again trying to enter our judicial system.

Stuffed

  /   Thursday, November 27, 2003   /   Comments(0)

I am really stuffed now. The turkey was the best that I can ever remember. The other stuff was great, too. I’m glad for this because I know we will be revisiting at least some of it tomorrow.

I got plenty of pictures as well as comments from my dad as to the orifice into which he wanted to insert the camera. It seems that the man doesn’t like his own medicine. He is usually the one taking all the pictures.

Dear Abby and Planned Parenthood

  /   Thursday, November 27, 2003   /   Comments(0)

I’ve never thought that Ann Landers (now deceased) or Dear Abby gave solid moral advice. In fact, I’m not even sure what their credentials are for giving any kind of advice. However, people do still write to people like this.

Here we find that Dear Abby referred a woman to Planned Parenthood. From what I understand, she did not suggest a crisis pregnancy center but only Planned Parenthood. What do you suppose that Planned Parenthood will counsel this girl to do?

The biggest outrage comes from her responses to the pro-life letters she received:

A woman who is not in charge of her reproductive life is not in charge of her life. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the average woman, without birth control, would have between 12 and 15 pregnancies in her lifetime.”

Sick, huh? Well, I’m all in favor of a woman being in charge of her “reproductive life.” It’s called chastity. It works better than anything out there, and it isn’t morally repugnant. Abortion is not a personal choice any more than it would be a personal choice if I were to decide to go out and shoot someone tonight.

UPDATE: Perhaps Abby thinks that abortion tickles, just like this shirt that Dennis mentioned on his blog said. That kind of thing is low and slimy even for Satan. That’s just like saying that the electric chair tickles, the guillotine tickles, lethal injection tickles, or, more like it, being drawn and quartered tickles.

Happy Thanksgiving

  /   Thursday, November 27, 2003   /   Comments(0)

I do want to say Happy Thanksgiving to all my readers today. I hope that you had lots of good food with very little (if any) weight gain. I’m with my family and with my laptop, digital camcorder, and digital camera. I don’t like to post people on the web without their permission, but I may find a few little artifacts like that previous post to share.

Halloween Revisited

  /   Thursday, November 27, 2003   /   Comments(0)

You might be wondering why I am writing about Halloween, but there was something that happened to my parents’ mailbox that night. I didn’t see it the last time I was here. Despite all the weather, it hasn’t come off.

I guess some people don’t have enough to do.

Denial of Abortion is Not Violence

  /   Wednesday, November 26, 2003   /   Comments(0)

Let’s hope that too many people don’t buy into the theory that denial of the “right” to an abortion amounts to violence against women. This is an outrage.

Thanksgiving

  /   Wednesday, November 26, 2003   /   Comments(0)

Well, I’m finally home for THanksgiving. I took today off so that I didn’t have to get Thanksgiving dinner through the drive-through window. My sister has just arrived, and I greeted her with my digital camcorder. I haven’t seen her since January. Needless to say, I have both my and my dad’s computer to blog from. I’m on his computer right now since it’s hooked up to DSL. I wish he’d get a router.

We Knew It

  /   Tuesday, November 25, 2003   /   Comments(0)

I love it when I see something that I knew but couldn’t figure out how to express. Today’s Word of Encouragement from Catholic Exchange does just that. This one is worth reading, too.
